Government Arts and Science college was Established in 2010 and it is located in the rural area Perunavalur. It is located 10 km from Aranthangi and near Avadiyarkovil. The college is well known for the nearest place of Avudaiyarkoil,The birthplace of “THIRUVASAGAM” written by lord Shiva as sung by the ninth century shavite bakthi poet Manickavasagar.
With the Combined Effort of Government of tamilnadu and Bharathidasan University,Bharathidasan University Model College started at Aranthangi on 22.09.2010.It started functioning in a rented Govt. Polytechnic College Campus and later it is shifted to a permanent building. The college was undertaken by the Government of Tamilnadu in 2019. The college is mainly meant for rural students.
The College Was started with the strength of 155 students enrolled in 3 undergraduate courses. Now in a spell of ten years college has grown up to provide 7 Under Graduate courses 3 Post Graduate Courses
with a strength of around 2000 students with 57 teaching and 12 Non teaching staff under its roof. The College has well equipped Computer Science,Physics,Chemistry Laboratories. Library centers the needs of students and has more than 3000 books and journals covering Arts,Science and Commerce fields. The college is recognized by UGC and aggregated.
To Create awareness and involved the students in Extracurricular Activities,College has established the NSS,RRC. It is run by the Directorate of collegiate education Department under the directions of The state government is affiliated to Bharathidasan University and follows the Semester System.
